More than 1.7 million animals, including lions, elephants and endangered rhinos, have been slaughtered in the past decade.
Claims by trophy hunters that they are primarily concerned about wildlife conservation or animal management are HIGHLY misleading. This terrible sport is only bringing more endangered animals to the brink of extinction.
Trophy hunters don’t target problem or surplus animals; instead, they covet those animals with the most impressive traits – the largest tusks, or the darkest manes. By doing so they remove key individuals, severely disrupting animal families and populations. They also cause immense animal suffering.
Trophy hunting is not a conservation or animal management tool, nor does it contribute significant funds to conservation programmes or local communities; it is a cruel relic from colonial times that should be consigned to history where it belongs.
Even in the face of extinction, imperilled species are still being hunted every day in order to serve as the centrepiece of someone's amusement... Enough Is Enough.
As more animals are being hunted every day for trophies, more are coming ever so much closer to being on the brink of extinction. For this reason, urgent action and support is needed to end this.
Humans have NO right to take the life of an animal for recreation. Animals experience suffering and pain when they are hunted for trophies. Killing endangered wildlife for pleasure only helps push them even further towards extinction.
